Located north of Darke Peak, Caralue Bluff Conservation Park is home to over 70 varieties of wildflowers and native flora. The park offers good bushwalking, hill climbing and fine views. Also worth visiting is Hambidge Wilderness Protection Area, noted for its Mallee scrub and extensive sand dune system. ARNO BAY 26 kilometres from Cleve map reference S7 Arno Bay has a refurbished jetty and boat harbour for anglers and boaties. The angler’s dream is to catch snapper, right? The beachfront caravan park is a short walk from the jetty and the small town offers a general store, café and historic pub. Arno Bay is also renowned as South Australia’s kingfish and aquaculture capital with fish farms located in the area. POINTS OF INTEREST Popular among locals and visitors alike, Arno Bay surprises you with an award- winning estuary and mangrove boardwalk. Walk along the boardwalk through dense mangroves, mudflats and samphire (a native succulent) habitats. The wheelchair accessible 1.4 kilometre boardwalk also features three jetties which are perfect fishing spots along the creek. There are many opportunities for swimming, kayaking and other recreational activities. Sites of particular interest include Redbanks Beach, the marine wall mural and the navigation beacon. An historic maritime treasure that lies close to its original site, the beacon was erected to assist sailing ketches entering the bay. Turnbull Park, the Super Shed and foreshore area are ideal for family picnics.
